If you want to give your pictures that certain something, then glitter powder / glitter dust is a recommendable product, which you can apply in addition to the color. In this article we will explain exactly how this works and where you get high-quality glitter from.




Types of Glitter / Glitter Dust

Normal glitter dust – The widespread glitter dust for handicraft needs

Holographic glitter dust – Clearly more dazzling, with a 3D effect and partly different colour nuances

Metallic glitter dust – Extremely beautiful metallic effect

When buying, you should make sure that the glitter dust is non-toxic, i.e. ideally intended for use in cosmetics (nails / make-up).



Where can I Get Cheap Glitter Powder?

For the first attempts we recommend you a glitter powder set, which contains different colors and is sufficient for the first attempts. How Do I Apply the Glitter Powder to my Pictures?

There are two ways you can apply your bling-bling accents to the images:



Take some glitter powder between your fingers and apply it with a light rubbing motion to certain areas of the still liquid pouring. Set specific highlights for certain colours.


Apply with Liquid:

You will achieve better results if you first bind your glitter powder in a liquid and then integrate it into your pouring. For this you need acrylic binder, which you mix with your glitter powder. Then add some water until the desired consistency is achieved.

After you have applied the paint to the painting surface, you can pour the flowable mass across the picture. By the following tilting / moving of the painting ground exciting effects result. The paint does not mix with the glittering acrylic binder and dries transparent.

Experiment with different types of glitter powder, different colours, combinations and give your cast pictures a bling bling wow effect.
